Biblical Meaning Of Dogs In A Dream: Mind: A Tool Worth Mastering.

There is nothing to suggest in The Bible that there is any specific meaning for a dog’s appearance in a dream. “However,” in reading many passages in The Bible that speak of dog’s; we can clearly see that back then references to man’s best friend weren’t exactly meant to conjure images of grandeur in the biblical reader’s mind.

For example: Consider Proverbs 26:11, “As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.” Then we have Deuteronomy 23:18, “Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the LORD thy God for any vow: for even both these are abomination unto the LORD thy God.”

As you can see; biblical references to dogs aren’t exactly flattering to dogs or even people. So, it can be assumed that biblical dream definitions for dogs wouldn’t exactly be positive, either. “However,” we can’t say for certain that dog’s in dreams during biblical times would be viewed as a bad thing, as we don’t have any examples of dreams and their interpretations in The Bible involving dogs.

These days; when they appear in our dreams; Dogs generally represent our instinctual behaviors. They can be seen as a representation of how we behave at a very basic level.

“However,” having had another string of dog dreams during the first part of January 2017, I finally realized that there is another possible representation the dog symbol just might have for someone such as myself; being the handler of a registered Seeing Eye Dog. It’s taken me years to figure this one out. But, it finally clicked. So, no more having to put a question mark next to dog dreams for me.

What I realized about my dog dreams is that my Seeing Eye Dog was meant to represent, “Me.” No matter how life like the dream was, or even though the dog was guiding me, “My dog was to represent me.”

If you are wondering who I was to represent during my dreams; that would be a fare question at this point, which I can actually answer. My role in these dog focused dreams was to be that of God.

Once I understood this; I got what my dog dreams were trying to show me. “And,” it has nothing to do with me being a God, “Honest!”

Apparently, in dreams where I’ve been frustrated with my dog’s behavior; the Lord had been allowing me to feel his frustration with me in reality, during those times when I was behaving against his wishes. At other times, during those dreams in which I was happy with my Seeing Eye Dog’s behavior, the Lord was allowing me to feel his pleasure in reality, regarding my own personal conduct.

During other dreams in which people were interfering with my ability to handle my dog and royally pissing me off as they did so; this was the Lord’s way of letting me know that he didn’t like how people were interfering with my relationship with Him in reality. In some cases; it has finally become clear to me that the dog dreams I’ve had in the past have also indicated His displeasure as to how other people’s interference in our relationship was causing me to behave, as well.

You see, “In reality,” when you are blind and working with a Seeing Eye Dog; even though the dog is guiding you, you are still the brains of the operation, “Just like the Lord is the brains to our operation.” So, if you see yourself as the dog in the dream, even though you might be working with, or even disciplining, your dog in the dream as you would while awake; it becomes easy to see how you might be assuming a God like roll in the dream.

“Now,” this is not to say that it’s written in stone that all dogs in dreams represent us and that we in dreams are God. However, it certainly is something to consider the possibility of when doing our dog dream interpretation; attempting to figure out what the dog symbol in the dream really means, “Especially if it is your own dog you are dreaming about.”

“Also,” it should be noted here that the dream role of person being God and dog being representative of person doesn’t just apply to those of us who work with our Seeing Eye Dogs. This kind of interpretation could be applied to anyone who is the handler of a dog as a part of their personal and professional life.

Maybe you are part of a K9 team in law-enforcement. Maybe you just have a dog at home as a pet. Regardless; if you are dealing with situations involving your dog in a dream, as you might have to in reality, it could very well be that God is trying to show you how your behavior looks and feels to Him from His prospective.
