Website Updates and a Scenic Walk to Dominic’s Pizza

In this post Brian Schnabel discusses updates to brianschnabel.com, PHP integration experiments, and a pleasant visit to Dominic’s Pizza, featuring friendly staff and a scenic two-and-a-half-mile walk.

While I didn’t get everything done on today’s to-do list, I did manage to clean out the toilet and wash the dishes in the kitchen. I also spent some time researching how to best use Copilot for web development projects, focusing specifically on HTML5 and CSS. In addition, I looked into how to use Copilot for developing images. Not only did I search for this information, but I also requested guidance tailored for blind users of Copilot.

I continued working on brianschnabel.com, including efforts to integrate the Briasphere with the website. I explored different options for using PHP scripts in conjunction with brianschnabel.com. Currently, I don’t have a rolling blog setup; all my content sits in directories. I can change out files when needed, allowing older files to fade away or linger so search engines can pick up the links before I replace them with new pages. This approach ensures fresh content is always available, while older material continues to draw traffic to the site and promote newer, updated versions.

I’m aiming to avoid creating a massive website overloaded with files, but I’ll see how things develop. Some content can likely be deleted over time, and pages that consistently receive traffic can remain available, helping keep the site size manageable.

Today, I also went to Dominic’s Pizza for a mid-afternoon lunch, where I was served by Alex. Pete, one of the owners, greeted me at the door. It’s always a pleasure to visit because Pete, Alex, Mike (another waiter from Scotland), and the rest of the staff go out of their way to help me. The place feels like a second home. The weather was beautiful, so I took the scenic route there and a longer route home. While I don’t have the exact mileage, I’d estimate I walked about two and a half miles round trip. I had assistance from crossing guards at major intersections and encountered no traffic issues on the way back.

Overall, even though I didn’t accomplish everything I set out to do, I got a fair amount done. I managed to get out, interact with people, and enjoy myself in the process.
