I tried a few remaining tricks to get things working right on my Epson ET 2803 color printer, I even used my iPhone to read the display on the printer itself with some success. But… “I was able to accomplish little on my own there!”
Figuring out the buttons on the printer was interesting enough, even with help. But I got around enough to know one thing for certain! “This printer sucks!”
After only two years, the color side of the equation isn’t working. I’ve never had this problem before with my old Deskjet printers, which took ink cartridges. Those printers are more expensive to run. “But they were blind user manageable and reliable!”
As far as I’m concerned, I’ve not gotten a good bang for my buck with this thing because I can’t readily resolve print issues with the damn thing without sighted assistance when the shit hits the fan. Resetting the printer software has relegated this thing to a USB port rather than Wi-Fi because it can’t be picked up by the smart phone app I used to install the thing out of the box.
Why did I reset the firmware in the printer? Because even though the tanks are physically full, the printer thinks a few of them are empty. I tried using my phone to navigate the display enough to change things on the software end to match reality as the printer refused to allow me to run a Power Clean saying the ink levels were too low… “But iPhones can only help a blind guy so much!”
I was hoping a Power Clean would resolve issues with the color. But… I guess if your blind, “Access is denied!”
I was told by my parents who also have an Epson Eco Tank Printer that they were great, and I’d have no trouble in running one. But… Well… I should have known that would not be the case as they are both sighted. “I’m sure they meant well though!”
So… I’m just going to run this bitch in grayscale until it either dies or I find a decent printer scanner combo that works the way I need it too.
I shouldn’t have to buy devices I need help with all the time. Printing out a nozzle check and sending a scanned copy to someone to verify the state of the printhead from time to time is one thing. But, to find out after only two years that half my colors don’t work when I use the thing at least a few times a week? “Seriously!”
I should have just bought a cheaper cartridge printer and had done with it. It would have cost me the same amount of money I spent on this thing by now and probably still been working as advertised. This thing though… “Epson can take it and ram it up their Wokeist asses!”.
