Newton, Sussex County Life: Tech Help, Local Tips & Personal Growth: From everyday digital fixes to inspiration for Sussex County, NJ locals

Monday, January 19, 2026: 7:42 AM: I feel a little off this morning. I’m not sure why. But whatever the deal is with my body, it will pass.

I’m pleased to see that Marilyn found the file she was looking for this morning. She thought she’d done something wrong in retrieving it from her work account, her employer now using cloud services for emailing attachments. But she did download it. She just didn’t realize she’d downloaded it.

When I remotely took a quick look at her setup this morning, I saw the time and date stamp on the file had changed to about two and a half hours prior to my checking things out. That means Marilyn did something to change it, which means the lost has once again been found. “Good enough for me.”

So, I need to activate the new credit card today and update it on Amazon, my insurance company, iPhone’s wallet, and I think that about covers it. Next month, I’ll begin restructuring things with regard to how my credit is used. But, for now, I’ll just update information on my current accounts connected with that card.

Monday, January 19, 2026: 8:24 AM: Something’s wrong. Marilyn just called me to thank me for changing things so she could put the file she couldn’t find on her desktop. That was a bizarre conversation, her convinced I did something to help her along, which I didn’t. But there is no point in arguing with her about it so I’m letting it go. In the meantime, I’ll keep an eye on the situation and do a better job documenting my work.

Monday, January 19, 2026: 11:53 AM: I spent some time digging through the Assurant site trying to update my credit card, only to find out the option isn’t there because my renter’s policy is already paid in full through August 18, 2026. The system still knows my old card is expiring, but it won’t let me change anything until renewal time. I turned Copilot loose on the site and she tells me that once they generate the renewal offer in mid 2026, the billing section will show up again and I’ll be able to put in a new card. “I guess I’ll find out in a few months if that is true.”

In the meantime, I think I’ve gone as far as I can go with updating credit card information on websites, today. I’m pretty certain I have hit all the locations that will require the info from the newly activated card so, “We’re good!”

Monday, January 19, 2026: 4:51 PM: I figured I’d get a jump on updating bank statements this afternoon and move the financial stuff to its new home on the second account. However, as usual, Microsoft’s OneDrive service isn’t up to the task. So, while the tech giant proves to us all why it’s run by a bigger bunch of fuckups then we are, “I think I’ll go read a book now.”

Wednesday, January 21, 2026: 8:29 PM: “I am and always have been a complete being, and this is so,” was the first thought that came to my mind as I finished reading “The Let Them Theory” by Mel Robbins. It was then quickly followed by the thought, “Flip the script.”

I might not be able to get people to see me as anything other than a second-class citizen. But I don’t need to spend time attempting to prove I’m not to anyone either. They either get it or, “They don’t.”

My nephew came by yesterday and took me out for lunch. I guess Dad’s going to be the symbol that represents future contact with my nephew, too. It seems to be the pattern shaping up when I look back. I think it’s the tone of the dream or vision that will give me a clearer inkling of which of the two is likely to come calling. I’ll have to dig a bit deeper into the symbolism before I can be sure though.

Lunch was awesome. Anthony, at the Hampton Diner, took good care of our table, too.

I picked up stuff at Hayek’s Market this morning despite the cold. I got a break from the chill though when Marge McCabe suggested I hang for three minutes so she could drive me home when she got off shift. “I appreciated that!”

I spent the day working with crap information to enhance my online email experience and am pleased to say I was successful. I didn’t get it all done. But I now have a good understanding of the interfaces I’m working with and expect that the remaining configurations will go quickly on Saturday morning.

The site map for Brian Schnabel’s Head Space was completed and uploaded as well. I’ll have more to add to that before I upload it this coming Programming Wednesday, especially after Friday’s and Sunday’s work is done.

I had another vision involving a visit from Dad’s pal who supposedly worked for the CIA and handled explosives in the military, worked in cyber security, etcetera. I wonder what’s going on there. I guess I’ll find out one of these days.

Of course, the CIA reference could be the point, even if it is a fictitious one. They are calling for quite a storm this weekend, and CIA converts to a 13 in numerology. Could the weather people be right this time? That’s two visions in a short period of time revolving around the CIA. “We shall see.”

I’m feeling pretty good over all these days. The stress is low, I can go outside without getting chilled through to the bone despite the temperature, and I’m sleeping pretty well for the most part. My thoughts are sharpening and things are getting done.
