I heard the strangest thing once again this afternoon, and I noticed it was about 20 minutes before my downstairs neighbor came home from work, yacking away on her phone. Someone, who was clearly trying to be as quiet as possible entered the building, quickly turned my landing light on and off, and then went in her apartment. Despite their best effort, I couldn’t help but notice the fact that they walked all the way through the apartment and back out again in less than three minutes. I do not think it was her boyfriend, as they were wearing heavy work boots and, “They have a different kind of walk from his.”
I could be wrong of course, as I already stated that they seemed to be trying to access the apartment without being noticed. But… I don’t think I’m wrong. I just think it’s kind of strange.
I mean, if you have a key to someone’s apartment, you are allowed to be there, “Right?” So, what’s with the body movements indicating that you are doing your best to not be heard? If they had entered the building normally, I probably wouldn’t have noticed, “As I was on the phone with a friend from Missouri at the time.”
However, this isn’t the first time I’ve heard this happen. Always the same MO, and usually every couple of weeks. Always wearing work boots and trying to step lightly. It could be the property manager, but I doubt anyone’s apartment has that many problems. Whoever it is though, “They have a key!”
It’s really not my problem. It just feels strange to me, as if someone is looking for something. That’s the impression I have anyway, every couple of weeks, “When I hear those stealthy boots go walking through.”
