Afternoon Ride, Support, and Coping: A Small Act of Kindness

Brian Schnabel of Newton NJ Reflects on an afternoon spent helping a friend, supporting recovery, and discussing the importance of mental health resources for ongoing well-being.

I just got back from riding with Ellen. We got the stuff that Jennifer needed from the Weis Markets in Franklin and dropped it off to her without a hitch.

I was rather impressed with Ellen’s ability to keep it all in this afternoon, too. She wasn’t quite as pissed off at everyone like she normally is. So… All in all, “It was a good afternoon.”

I get that the strokes haven’t really done much for her personality. But… I also know she’s got some issues that need to be dealt with that aren’t stroke related. Hopefully, she’ll look into some online therapy options that COVID19 has made possible via Medicare.

You can only blame so much on the stroke. A lot of times it just amplifies what’s already there.
