Substandard New Jersey Housing

Wednesday, October 14, 2026: 7:07 AM: I fell asleep last night around 8:45 PM, waking at around 10:55 PM with a God-awful headache and the realization that the heat was set way too high. I tried opening windows but quickly realized the damp air outside wasn’t helping my cause. So, keeping in mind a vision I had two days ago about the baseboard thermostatic valve I decided my property manager could take his verbal order that I’m not to use it and shove it up his ass, me turning the setting of said valve from 4 to 3. Then I fired up my AC and went back to sleep.

I pay rent on this apartment and the brainiacs at Goldberg Realty connected with Newtonian Gardens might want to remember that. While roomer has it that Gordon Ancis and others may be concerned about inconveniencing our dear sweet property manager, I could care less, “If the roomer is true.”

As it is my apartment shakes like a doublewide trailer when the downstairs neighbor does laundry. I hold Goldberg Realty the State of New Jersey, County of Sussex, and Town of Newton responsible for that.

Based on what I’m hearing from tenants at other complexes in town, it would seem that the Garden State is looking the other way with regard to landlord’s, allowing them to blatantly violate laws pertaining to the American Disabilities act and building code in general. So, it doesn’t really matter where you live in this state anymore. “Perhaps the New Jersey Realtor’s Association has something to do with that as well?”

In the end, it’s all about the money. So, for now, while the leadership of New Jersey seems to allow issues of substandard housing to proliferate for profit, I will be watching for that window of opportunity during which “I will” legally, publicly and financially strike back.

In the meantime, if this building collapses due to modifications that have been made to the structure, all parties concerned had better hope it kills me. If it doesn’t… Well now… I may still be trapped in this state should that happen, “But I will make the most of my time here, legally, financially, and publicly.”
