Laundry, life & emails: Server scrub & Arris modem mischief.

I visited the vampire today and am now waiting on my test results from Labcorp. I’m not particularly concerned about anything other then the cholesterol reading and if that’s up a little since September’s test… Well… My stress level has been rather high at times. I’m managing it ok; I think. But… “I can feel the physical toll it’s taking on me some days.”

I had a nice long chat with my nephew. It’s nice to be able to talk to people who have differing political views from yours and manage to talk about things that are happening on a national level without getting into World War 3 because you have a differing opinion or life experience from the other party. We just talk about things as they are. “No one is buying or selling.”

I picked up a voicemail about issues with a client’s computer this evening and went to log in and check things out. The machine was turned off though. But I did notice a few things about their Arris modem settings that don’t sit right with me.

For one thing, the software in the modem insists that my browser is out of date, no matter if it’s Firefox or Edge. So… I’m thinking my client might want to talk to their ISP about that. My guess is, “The software really needs to be updated!”

Then there is the password issue. It keeps resetting itself to the default. I can’t spot any good reason for that. “That’s another conversation for the Internet Service Provider.”

I read a bit this evening while in the tub and did run a meditation this afternoon. But I got nothing out of it other than some good R&R.

I’ve slowly begun adjusting this site’s server to get rid of unwanted traffic, noting a few things in the record that are not to be tolerated any more, and should have never been in the first place in a few cases. Traffic from China is a bit concerning to me right now and I’m thinking someone is using an Amazon VPN for rather unfriendly purposes. All of that is being rectified, however, and I’m pretty sure that things will be as I wish them to be in a few short weeks where my site traffic is concerned. I want real human beings visiting my site and search indexers. “Not trash!”

After leaving Labcorp’s awesome staff behind I took my friend to breakfast at Dunkin Donuts on Sparta Avenue. They were unusually helpful today. I hadn’t been there in a while and was pleasantly surprised. “It was like walking into a brand-new business.”

I need to turn my attention to things like doing laundry and finances over the next few days. I did fire off an email to my Housing Program case manager to make sure there was nothing MIA courtesy of The United States Post Office and expect a response in short order. And… Yeah… I really need to get back to work on finishing that Guided Meditation audio file, too. “We’re getting there!”
