Housing Program annual inspection notice 2024.

I get these official-looking letters from the State of New Jersey’s Department of Community Affairs Housing Program once a year. I pulled one out of my mailbox once again as a part of this year’s recertification on Tuesday. This letter notifies me that they need to come and inspect my apartment as a part of the recertification process. It’s part of the deal if I want the Section 8 Housing Program to continue helping me with my rent. “It’s also part of the deal for my landlord too if he wants to continue receiving guaranteed rent payments!”

They do this every year to make sure everything’s up to code and livable. “It’s good for my landlord, my neighbors and me!”

This year’s letter says they’re planning to check out my place on Thursday, May 23rd, anytime from 9 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. So, I’ve got to make sure I’m around for that. If I can’t be, I need to give them a ring to reschedule this inspection.

They’ve also sent a copy of this notice to the folks at Goldberg Realty, which is standard procedure as well. For those who don’t know, Goldberg Realty owns and operates my apartment complex.

It’s pretty standard stuff but important. And… Like I’ve already said, it’s good for my landlord, my neighbors and, “Me!”
