April 17th inspection perhaps Goldberg Realty’s commitment to quality Living.

I got a notice from Goldberg Realty via email yesterday in forming me of a possible inspection of my apartment tomorrow. For Those who don’t know, Goldberg Realty owns and operates the complex where I live, “Newtonian Gardens Apartments.”

They made it sound like it’s pretty standard stuff; them stating in the email that they might swing by between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM to make sure everything in the building is in tip-top shape. They don’t normally do this kind of thing unless the state, or some other related entity wants to see the place next. So… No… I’m not buying today when anyone writes an email from that office suggesting that Goldberg’s just doing this to ensure the place is well-maintained and everything’s working as it should.

Part of any inspection that’s ever been done around here usually includes a quick look inside some of the apartments. It’s not a big deal, really-just a few minutes to peek inside and make sure there are no issues, safety or otherwise. They’re pretty respectful about it so no worries there. “It’s never good to piss off your bread and butter don’t you know.”

“Anyhow…” While they always let us tenants know they appreciate our cooperation, Given the magnitude of the earthquake we experienced about two weeks ago, I’m pretty sure it’s not just all about keeping the building nice for everyone who lives here. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t another round of inspections within the next few months from the NJ Buro of Housing or another related party, “This just being Goldberg Realty getting ahead of the 8 Ball.”

I don’t mind personally. In fact, having been in my apartment when the earthquake hit… Given some of what I heard and felt as I sat in a structure that was built back in the 1960s… Yeah… “It’s a shrewd move on Goldberg Realty’s part.”
